As someone who began trading with a full time job there were two main paths open to me, either become a Swing Trader using filters to find positions to hold for a couple of days or to use Expert Advisors, Trading Algorithms and Systematic Trading.
Personally I found that Swing Trading had a steep learning curve and the requirement to choose you own companies to trade that this form of trading was more psychologically taxing than the fully tested short term intra day systems that I now favour.
Using the Prorealtime platform it is possible to analyse a strategy introducing out of sample data and for me more effectively measure to expected maximum risk, drawdown and profit from taking a system live.
All of my trades are now automated and executed through the ProRealTime platform on IG.com
