This indicator does not provide buy or sell signals. It plots market structure levels intended to support discretionary decision-making and risk management.
What this indicator does
The classic daily CPR gives you one set of levels for the whole session. By midday, price has often moved far from them. Central Pivot Range (Intraday) applies the same proven framework to custom blocks of time within the session: 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours, or any length you choose. It recalculates the Central Pivot Range at the start of each block from the high, low and close of the previous one, so your reference levels always reflect the most recent auction rather than yesterday’s.
For each block, the indicator plots:
- Central Pivot Range: Central Pivot, Top Central Pivot and Bottom Central Pivot
- Previous block High, Low and Close, the most immediate support and resistance
- Range extensions at 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of the previous block’s range, both above and below, as objective intraday targets
The first block of each session is built from the last block of the previous session, so the levels are ready at the opening bell.
Next CPR preview
With the NEXTCPR option enabled, the indicator also draws the developing CPR of the next block in the future area of the chart. It updates bar by bar while the current block forms, so you can see in advance whether the next block is setting up as narrow (potential trend or breakout) or wide (potential range).
How it works
- Central Pivot (CP) = (High + Low + Close) / 3
- Bottom Central Pivot (BC) = (High + Low) / 2
- Top Central Pivot (TC) = (CP − BC) + CP
High, Low and Close are those of the previous intraday block.
Settings
- SESSIONSTART / SESSIONEND: session start and end time in HHMMSS format, in your platform’s time zone. Overnight sessions (such as futures) and 24-hour markets (such as forex and crypto) are supported.
- CPRMODE: block length in minutes, for example 15, 30, 60, 120 or 240. It must be a multiple of your chart timeframe.
- TFMINUTES: the timeframe of your chart in minutes. Any intraday timeframe works.
- NEXTCPR: shows the developing CPR of the next block
How traders use it
- Read intraday bias: price holding above the CPR favors long setups, below it favors short setups
- Spot narrow CPRs that often precede directional moves, and wide CPRs that often signal rotation
- Use previous block High and Low as breakout or rejection triggers
- Use range extensions to set targets and manage partial exits
- Combine with the daily CPR for multi-timeframe confluence
Who this indicator is for
- Day traders and scalpers on stocks, futures, forex and crypto
- Traders already using the daily CPR who want finer intraday precision
- Breakout and mean-reversion traders who need objective, session-based levels
Compatibility
Requires ProRealTime v11 or later. Works on any intraday timeframe, as long as the block length (CPRMODE) is a multiple of the chart timeframe (TFMINUTES), for example a 30-minute block on a 1, 5, 10 or 15-minute chart. For best results, display regular session hours only.
